My acne scars are something I'm extremely self conscious about. I've gotten a lot more comfortable in my own skin, that I even go about my day without makeup on. This may sound so dumb but I used to be so embarrassed by my acne scars, indentations and hyper-pigmentation. I've come a long way and am proud of my skin but that doesn't mean I'm not always on the hunt to fight my imperfections.
I heard about Banish from several beauty vloggers on YouTube and was really curious about at home derma-rolling and whether or not it would work for me. A little background on derma-rolling and what it does... The derma-roller creates teeny tiny "holes" in your skin which is essentially "injuring" it. When the skin is injured it over produces collagen which helps it heal at a faster rate. Especially when you have indentations in your skin, the influx in collagen production helps immensely. With the presence of these tiny holes in your skin your skincare is able to seep in even quicker and help the healing process.
Banish directs you to use the derma-roller once a week. I haven't been able to use it as consistently as I would have hoped over these few months because I've been having some random breakouts. You never, ever want to derma-roll when you have break outs because you will spread the bacteria and cause more break outs. So I've been derma-rolling maybe once every two weeks, which is why I saw I haven't been using it as much as I would like too. However, I do notice amazing results in the days following my derma-rolling sessions. My skin is noticeably fuller, plumper and more radiant. Probably because my skincare goodies are able to seep into my skin even better.
I tested out the Banish Starter kit which comes with everything... and I mean everything. It's the whole shebang. I love the pore smasher that comes in this kit because it leaves my skin feeling so cool and tingly. Odd right? In addition to two derma-roller sizes and the pore smasher the Starter Kit comes with a handful of skincare goodies. I love the Vitamin C Elixir and Activated Charcoal and Clay Mask. Vitamin C is awesome for your skin... It reduces redness and inflammation (which after purposely injuring your skin, you'll need) but it also hydrates and refreshes your skin. I love all things charcoal and clay. Charcoal and Clay are "magnetic" substances that pull out dirt, imperfections and impurities for your skin. But it's not something you want to use on a daily basis.
My first impressions of Banish and the Banish Starter Kit are that it really does work. You need to be consistent to see long lasting effects (which is why I haven't shown a before and after photo yet, I want to use it for a couple more months consistently) but using it on and off for the past two months, I am convinced that it works. I will be doing a follow up post with before and after posts, so stay tuned.
